Dremio is hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer for its Query Execution team. The role is fully remote and open to applicants worldwide.
Location: Remote (anywhere in the world)
Type: Full-Time
Experience: 5+ years
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support query operators, expression evaluation, scheduling and resource management
- Optimise runtime performance: vectorised processing, memory use, concurrency and disk spilling
- Diagnose query correctness and performance problems
- Tune JVM behaviour such as garbage collection and threading
- Work with planner, data lake, product and support teams and mentor others through reviews
Requirements
- 5+ years of production software engineering, ideally in databases or distributed systems
- Strong Java (C++ is a plus)
- Data structures, concurrency and asynchronous programming
- Knowledge of database internals and distributed execution
- Bonus: Apache Arrow, Iceberg, Parquet, Spark, open-source contributions
